Activities

Stafford House Study Holidays include a huge range of activities, sports and trips.

• day trips to exciting, famous and historic locations
• visits to local attractions
• opportunities to play sports
• opportunities to participate in creative workshops
• evening entertainments e.g. theme parties, film nights and more
• more adventurous excursions e.g. weekends in London.

Excursions

Most courses will include at least one full-day and one half-day excursion each week.

The location will vary depending on the centre, but will usually be to a major city, fun attraction or place of interest. Students taking a specialist course (Art & Design, Drama or Arsenal Soccer School) will be given the unique opportunity to visit a place of interest related to their course, such as a famous London theatre, art gallery or for a private tour of the iconic Emirates stadium.

In general, the full day activity takes place at the weekend, with half-day excursions and on-site activities taking place in the afternoon. This allows for all teaching to take place on weekday mornings, giving a good balance between learning and socialising.

All visits are made under the supervision of knowledgeable welfare and entertainment managers whose priority is the safety of the students. Private coach travel and all admissions fees are included in the cost of the programme.

Afternoon activities

Most courses will include on-site afternoon activities, organised and managed by our trained welfare supervisors and activity leaders. A typical programme of afternoon activities will include:

• Various sports (including football, tennis, swimming, basketball, volleyball, badminton and rugby)
• Arts and Crafts
• Drama workshops
• Walking tours
• Half day excursions

In addition, certain centres have sports 'add-ons' available, making use of their excellent sports facilities and coaching:

• Adventure Sports at: Devon
• Football at: Felsted
• Golf at: Cheltenham, Dundee, Oakham, Swansea, Wimborne, Wokingham
• Horse Riding at: Cheltenham, Oakham, Wokingham, York
• Rugby at: Cheltenham

Evening activities

Each evening after dinner, our courses include an exciting programme of parties and activities. There is also usually a common room available where students can relax, watch television, play table-tennis and meet one another informally. A typical week will include:

• Monday: Welcome party and disco
• Tuesday: Quiz night
• Wednesday: Sports tournament
• Thursday: International night
• Friday: Theme disco
• Saturday: Film night
• Sunday: Games night

Optional activities and excursions
Stafford House Study Holidays offers a supplementary programme of optional outings and excursions. Some, such as weekends in London or Edinburgh, must be booked in advance. Others, such as the optional excursions on Sundays, and visits to the theatre, can be booked during the course.
