Welcome to London, Roehampton University

Roehampton is a residential suburb of south-west London surrounded by beautiful parkland and open spaces. Richmond Park, Wimbledon Common and Kew Gardens are all close by. The College is located in Zone 2 of the London Transport System and central London is easily accessible by bus, rail or underground. The nearest underground station is Putney, and the nearest rail station, Barnes. There are local shops, within walking distance of the College.

Roehampton University

Roehampton University is one of the largest teacher training institutions in the UK, comprising four separate Colleges. Founded in 1841 as an Anglican College, Whitelands is one of the oldest higher education institutions in England.

The College moved to its new five hectare site, overlooking Richmond Park, in January 2005. Innovative modern architecture links the Georgian centrepiece of Parkstead House to state-of-the-art lecture theatres, teaching rooms and residential accommodation.

Social facilities include a restaurant and café, with a decked terrace offering wonderful views over Richmond Park. Parkstead House was designed in the early 1760s by Sir William Chambers, the architect of Somerset House and of the Pagoda at Kew Gardens.

The campus combines the advantages of modern buildings with a very attractive setting. The accommodation, classrooms, dining room and social space are all located very compactly in the securely enclosed campus.

Accommodation

The rooms at Whitelands are mainly en-suite singles, with some twin rooms, furnished to a very high standard. They are arranged in corridors with a kitchen/sitting room on each corridor. A coin-operated laundry is also available.
