Welcome to Historic Canterbury

Canterbury has a history that goes back to the Romans, over 2,000 years ago. Famous even before medieval times as a great religious centre, the murder in the Cathedral in 1170 of Archbishop Thomas à Becket began a tradition of pilgrimage.
Today the city offers a blend of the modern and the historic, with ancient cobbled streets and architecture surrounded by excellent shopping facilities and a cosmopolitan mix of cafés and restaurants. The city is also close to the stunning beaches of the south coast and benefits from easy access to central London.
Stafford House
Established in 1952, Stafford House School of English is located a short distance from the city centre and offers a wide range of facilities including modern classrooms and a spacious common room.
